Ithaca District revised budget Proposition 2 vote on June 18

by / Ithacalocal.org

Residents of the Ithaca City School District are set to vote on June 18 for a new budget and an amended Proposition 2. The revised Proposition 2 now asks voters to approve the purchase of up to two electric buses, two ultra-low propane buses with wheelchair lifts, and three passenger vehicles at a cost of $1.6 million. The district has already secured an $800,000 rebate to help cover the cost of the electric buses. The funds for Proposition 2 will come from a dedicated savings account called "Capital Reserve" and will not affect taxes. The district replaces aging buses and other vehicles each year, using this reserve fund. Polling stations will be open from 12 noon to 9 p.m. on June 18 for residents to cast their votes. Residents can provide feedback via Let’s Talk on ithacacityschools.org or find more information about the vote at ithacacityschools.org/vote.
