Elbert Elementary modernization project nearing completion in Winter Haven

Reviewed by Todd Vandersline / lakelandlocal.org

Elbert Elementary School in Winter Haven is currently undergoing a complete modernization project. The tilt walls have been observed going up at the school. This modernization process will essentially result in a new school building. Students and staff have been moved to the Scenic Terrace campus in Haines City temporarily. They are expected to return to Elbert Elementary after the 2024-25 school year. Eventually, the Scenic Terrace campus will become a traditional K-8 zoned public school. Elbert Elementary is the latest modernization project by Polk County Public Schools, following similar efforts at Mulberry High, Bartow High, Garner Academy, and Southwest Middle School. These projects are funded by impact fees and the district's half-cent sales tax, which was renewed by voters in 2018. #lovePolkschools
