A leading global advisory and brokerage firm has joined forces with Cornell University to study future drought risks. The partnership will focus on understanding climate variables, including prolonged dry weather and extreme Santa Ana winds, which contributed to the severity of the January wildfires in Los Angeles. Toby Ault, an associate professor of earth and atmospheric sciences at Cornell and a faculty fellow at the Cornell Atkinson Center for Sustainability, is collaborating on the project. The combined expertise is intended to improve risk assessments for businesses seeking advice on potential impacts from drought and water shortages.
