Cornell to Host Free Summer Outdoor Concerts, Lectures

Cornell University is set to offer free outdoor events this summer from July 9 to August 1. The Cornell University School of Continuing Education and Summer Sessions will host concerts and lectures that begin at 7 p.m. on select Wednesdays and Fridays.

Friday concerts will take place on the Ag Quad and allow families to bring picnics, blankets, and lawn chairs. During these events, Cornell Dairy will sell ice cream, vegan mango sorbet, and bottled water. All concerts will be held outdoors on the Ag Quad due to construction.

Lectures, which follow a format similar to TED Talks with a question and answer session, will be held on Wednesday evenings at Warren Hall, Room B25, on the Ag Quad.

Cornell SCE has a long history of hosting free summer events. In the past, speakers have included former president Andrew Dickson White, and concerts were held in venues such as Sage Chapel and on the Arts Quad. This year’s events continue that tradition while accommodating current campus needs.
