8th Grader Makenzie Fish Shines at State Meet

Makenzie Fish, an 8th-grade swimmer from Watkins Glen Central School District, qualified for the NYSPHSAA State Swimming Championships last weekend. She earned state-qualifying times in the 100 backstroke at the IAC Class C Championships in October and won the 200 IM at the Section IV Class C Championship Finals. At the state meet, Makenzie placed 35th in the 200 IM preliminaries and competed in the 100 backstroke finals, finishing 22nd overall with a new personal record and school record for backstroke. Makenzie also featured on a podcast with Nick Karski from ESPN Ithaca.
