Trent Preszler, MS ’02 and PhD ’12, a professor of practice at Cornell’s Dyson School of Applied Economics & Management, has released a new book examining the historical significance of evergreens. Preszler explains that these trees have recorded events spanning world wars, religious developments, and construction booms over the course of 365 million years. He describes his work as if evergreens were witnesses in a courtroom drama, an analogy meant to highlight their role in keeping historical records. The book details how evergreens have been integral to human history by preserving information over vast periods of time.
