Doug Derraugh Powers Cornell Women's Hockey Triumphs

Doug Derraugh, an alumnus from the class of 1991, has spent the past two decades as head coach of Cornell University's women's ice hockey team. As an undergraduate, Derraugh chose to play at Cornell because he was attracted by the atmosphere at Lynah Rink. Fourteen years later, he returned to the same venue, this time as a coach.

Under Derraugh’s leadership, the team has won the ECAC tournament five times and reached the NCAA tournament on 10 occasions. The team has appeared in the national Frozen Four in 2011, 2012, 2019, and 2025. In the tournament finals of the 2009–10 season, Cornell lost in the third overtime, marking the longest NCAA championship game ever played.

Derraugh is known for his passion, investment, and loyalty to his players, while maintaining high expectations. He also emphasizes personal growth and supports his players beyond the ice, aiming to prepare them for life after college.
