Cornell Hosts Toni Morrison Anniversary Symposium

Cornell University in Ithaca announced a four-day event to mark the 70th anniversary of Toni Morrison earning her master of arts degree at the institution in 1955. Morrison, the noted novelist, editor, and literary critic, completed her thesis on how Virginia Woolf and William Faulkner depicted alienation.

The event, titled “Toni Morrison: Literature and Public Life,” will take place from September 18 to 21. Scheduled activities include films, panels, workshops, and the unveiling of two murals, among other programming.

The symposium is free and open to the public; however, registration is required. Interested participants have until September 8 to register using the provided online form.
