Cayuga County Health Department is providing free breastfeeding consultations for expecting and breastfeeding mothers. The consultations are available in person and over the phone by Certified Lactation Counselors. Interested individuals can call 315-253-1560 for more information.

The Maternal Child Health Program at the Cayuga County Health Department offers assistance through staff including Kaitlyn Jirince, RN, CLC; Marcy North, RN, CLC; and Noreen Cornell, BSN, CLC. Additionally, enrolled participants in the Cayuga County WIC program can receive support from Brooke Broader, CLC; Heather McNelly, RN, RD, CLC; Olivia Martin, Lactation Peer Counselor; and Lauren Smith, Lactation Peer Counselor, with contact at 315-253-1406 (extension 4 for some counselors) or by phone at 315-209-9029 and 315-209-9197 for peer counseling.

Other local resources include the Upstate University’s Breastfeeding Medicine Program at Community Hospital, reachable at 315-464-MILK (6455). Their team includes Jayne Charlamb, MD, FACP, FABM, IBCLC and Kathleen Tindall, FNP-C, IBCLC, CBCN, CGRA. Children's Health Specialists in Auburn, NY, also offer support through Alison McCrone, M.D., a Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine Specialist and Pediatrician.

Online resources are available as well at kellymom.com, wicbreastfeeding.fns.usda.gov, and illi.org, which offers meetings in Syracuse, Cortland, and Ithaca as well as phone and video calls.
