Castle Street traffic reduced as construction continues in Geneva
The City of Geneva, NY, says that as part of the Castle Street Capital Improvements Project, Villager Construction will continue installing new stormwater structures on Castle Street between Oak Street and Main Street.
Work is ongoing. During construction, Castle Street will be temporarily closed, and/or down to one-lane alternating traffic in this area.
Traffic impacts include: Eastbound and westbound traffic on Castle Street will be closed, or reduced to one lane with flaggers present, between Main St. and Oak St. during the workday. Dorchester Avenue will be open to local traffic only. The Library and Byrne Dairy will remain accessible during this work. Pulteney Street will at times be open to local traffic only, between Elmwood Ave. and Castle Street. Innovations Salon will remain accessible during this work. West Avenue will be open to local traffic only. Parking may be limited overnight and during construction hours.
Construction is expected to continue for several weeks. All work schedules are subject to change due to weather or unforeseen conditions. Please follow posted detour signage for traffic guidance.
We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation as these improvements are completed. Residents and commuters should expect delays and temporary changes to normal traffic patterns. Work zones will be restricted to local traffic and emergency vehicles only, and short-term detour routes will be clearly posted.
Cyclists: Please use caution due to rough road conditions and follow posted detours. Pedestrians: Please use crosswalks and sidewalks when available and remain a safe distance from construction vehicles and equipment. We appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation while this important infrastructure work continues.
For project details or questions, please contact the DPW Engineering Department at 315-789-3101 or email complaints@cityofgenevany.gov.
