**Special Event Highlights Canine Contributions to Global Conservation Efforts**
Ithaca, NY—Dr. Pete Coppolillo, Executive Director of Working Dogs for Conservation (WD4C), will present an engaging talk at Cornell University on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event will take place in Lecture Hall 5 at the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Coppolillo's presentation will focus on how WD4C’s expertly trained dogs are driving advancements in conservation both in North America and worldwide. His talk will cover topics such as detecting rare and endangered species, addressing wildlife and human disease outbreaks, and using innovative technology paired with canine skills to combat wildlife crime.
He will also shed light on how these conservation efforts are helping Native and Indigenous communities benefit from preservation initiatives while working toward correcting historical inequities.
The event is hosted by Cornell’s K. Lisa Yang Center for Wildlife Health, the Richard P. Riney Canine Health Center, the Duffield Institute for Animal Behavior, and the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine.
