**Community Reading of "The Iliad" Takes Center Stage at Cornell University**

ITHACA, NY - Cornell University will host a daylong community reading of Homer’s epic poem *The Iliad* as part of the College of Arts and Sciences' “Arts Unplugged” series. The event is scheduled to take place on Thursday, March 13, in the Groos Family Atrium of Klarman Hall.

The reading will begin at 9 a.m. with a “Greek chorus” of students and faculty reciting the opening lines of the poem in its original Greek. Following that, over 60 readers will bring more than 7,000 lines of *The Iliad* to life in English translation.

This event will feature participation from a diverse array of readers, including faculty, staff, students, and members of the Ithaca community. The readings are set to run continuously until 4 p.m., showcasing the collaborative and inclusive nature of the occasion.

The marathon reading serves as an opportunity to engage with one of the cornerstones of classical literature and highlights the communal spirit of the university and the larger Ithaca community.
