Brain Imaging Predicts App Success in Anxiety Treatment

A study led by researchers at Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian has found that differences in brain connectivity may help predict which patients could benefit from a self-guided anxiety care app. The research involved brain imaging that compared the strength of connections between two brain regions involved in attention and regulation of anxiety responses. Young people with weaker connections in these areas were found to be more likely to benefit from using the app. These findings are based on a clinical trial and suggest that clinicians may use brain imaging results in the future to guide treatment decisions for anxiety. For more details, see the report from Cornell University.
